Turvasana™ — Translation source formats

This page applies to translation assignments. If you have questions, please contact us, and we will be happy to help you whether the text that should be translated exists as a file on your computer or in some other format.

Well-formed text in a compatible format — main workflow

We support most common office and web text formats, for example plain text, XML, HTML and RTF files; Microsoft® Excel®, Word and PowerPoint® files; OpenDocument Presentation, Spreadsheet and Text files; and TTX files. Microsoft Word is the recommended format for text content. If you supply us with an XML file, please include its schema.

Support for certain desktop publishing file formats is also available, although you would need to use a suitable export tool to tag such files before sending them to us.

Our main workflow does not support PDF. If you wish for us to translate the contents of a PDF file, we primarily recommend that you obtain the original from which the PDF file was created.

To qualify for the main workflow, the source text should be well formed. Avoid breaking up sentences over text file paragraphs or spreadsheet cells. Avoid using line feeds to force word wrapping or to substitute for paragraph marks. Please save HTML or similar mark-up as text, not inside a word-processing or spreadsheet file. Do not apply copy protection schemes, such as passwords, or input restrictions, such as the validation features in Excel.

Customized text extraction — hourly rate

We may be able to accept your source text even if it is in a format that we cannot process within our main workflow. In such a case, we will charge for our work by the hour. For more information, please see our page on translation rates.
